So commonly asked questions I get are, “Am I gonna go blind?”

“Is this gonna hurt?”

“Are my lashes gonna burn off after this process?”

And I say, “If any of those things were to happen, I don’t think I would ever do this service.”

My lash goals would be to wake up in the morning and not have to do them.

I want to get lash perm done today because I definitely think doing my makeup is a chore.

I like to spend as little time as I can on my looks because I would much rather be either

sleeping in or doing literally anything else.

I don’t know if I’m going to get over my fear of someone touching my eyes.

But I’m excited to see what my eyelashes will look like and the end, so I’m gonna

do it and just think of something else while she’s touching my eyelid.

My name is Dominique Jones.

I’m a lash technician at Eye Do Lashes based in Los Angeles.

Lash perms have been a thing for some time now.

They’ve been doing this in Japan, Korea.

It was kind of an old school technique and smelled super, super gross like perm solution.

And they would use these little sticky small rods.

And it was just a super outdated technique.

But over time it’s been revamped and now it’s super popular and is known as a lash lift.

Dani, so go ahead and lay down.

So for the end result do you want your lashes pretty dramatic and up, or do you want more

like a softer curl or do you want to go for all out, the most extreme?

Yeah, let’s just do the drama.

Okay, cool.

Sounds good.

I always tell my clients, just relax, and in 45 minutes you’ll have amazing lifted lashes.

Step one, we cover the bottom lashes with eye patches.

We have the client slowly close their eyes, make sure the patches are comfortable before

proceeding with the process.

We then adhere a silicone rod onto the top lash line.

We apply adhesive onto that rod

and start sticking your lashes up onto the silicone rod.

I then will brush your lashes up onto the rod and make sure that they’re isolated nice

and that they’re all secure and stuck onto the silicone rod.

I then apply step one.

Step one will soften the lashes.

It’ll change the elasticity of the lashes.

It’ll soften them so that they can mold into the shape of the rod.

I’ll let the lashes set for ten minutes.

Then I will apply step two.

This is the neutralizing step.

This will set and hold the lashes to retain the shape of the rod, so then when we peel

it back, it will stay up and curled.

I will let this step sit on for another ten minutes.

After that ten minutes is up,

I remove step two solution,

and the lashes will have retained the shape of the rod.

And now I will clean off everything and dry the lashes,

brush them,

and do the grand reveal.

Alright, so are you ready to see your lashes?

I am, yes.

I’m so excited.

Okay, cool. Here’s the mirror.

Woah!

That’s nuts!

I never thought my eyelashes would be this long without mascara.

I’m so stoked never to put on makeup again.

So, the after-care is super easy.

I tell my clients, just go about your day as normal.

Don’t even think about it that much.

Basically just don’t apply mascara and don’t submerge your lashes in water.

And they’re like, “Can I shower, can I wash my face?”

Yeah, you can.

Just make it a point to splash around your lashes so you’re not getting them directly wet.

And after 24 hours you can totally forget about doing anything differently, and just

proceed as normal.

I think my favorite part about doing lash lifts is just the instant before and after.

They close their eyes for 45 minutes and they open,

and it’s just like night and day.

And so that instant gratification is super cool and really rewarding how excited they get.

It’s been over a week since I got my eyelashes permed.

After I was done with the treatment, I was super excited because I could already see

a difference immediately.

My experience at Eye Do Lashes was a very pleasant one.

I was a little nervous going in, but I didn’t need to be because it was super relaxing and awesome.

I have been receiving a lot of compliments.

I think a lot of people keep asking me if I got my eyelashes extended and I’m like,

it’s natural.

The lash lift can last you about six to eight weeks.

It’s super low maintenance.

So over time, as lashes go through a cycle, you get a bunch of new straight ones, and

then you can return and do another one.

I also encourage lash serum, lash vitamins

to enhance their natural lashes so they could be happier with the results of a lash lift in the future.

I would definitely do this procedure again.

Overall, this experience showed me that it’s important to take care of yourself.

It reminded me that there’s also stuff that you can do that’s super low maintenance.

And it just helps give you more confidence and feel better about yourself.

I was really happy with Dani’s results.

I think it definitely opened up her

eyes, made her look more awake.

It was a super subtle change, but it just made all the difference.
